Employee Child Care

The Learning Centers are available to full time GPISD employees and follow the district student/teacher calendar. The centers are open from 6:30am to 6:00pm and are closed in the summer. The Learning Centers create a safe and enriched environment that promotes quality programming and assists in the healthy growth and development of young children.

Program Philosophy and Goal of Learning Centers
For the Children: To nurture the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child at their individual level so they may develop self-worth, respect of others and a love of learning.
For the Parents: To be a resource and support for parents in the areas of child development and successful parenting techniques. To encourage parents to interact with the staff and their child in the development process both at home and at the center.
For the Community: To support community-wide efforts to improve the care and education of children through teacher training workshops and advocacy effort.

Curriculum
GPISD Employee Child Care Centers utilize Frog Street Press and Scholastic PreK On My Way! curricula. Through these curricula children are taught using themes throughout the year which offer literacy and math lessons daily. Lessons are filled with songs, music, hands-on materials and activities, chants, games, make-believe, and stimulation for children's imagination. Teachers also use Read-Aloud activities to foster oral language and sense of story, building vocabulary.
